DEBASISH SEN M Eng, MBA

Debasish is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Imperial College, London where he graduated with a Masters in Engineering (4 year course).

Debasish also has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from London Business School, where his specialist subjects were Marketing and Information technology.He worked for 8 years (partly during University) for BICC Research & Engineering (the largest electrical cables manufacturer in the UK at the time), predominantly responsible for the internal marketing of factory automation within the plc.

He then worked for BT plc for 6 years in various marketing posts including: product management, corporate intelligence, international business planning and global market research. During this time he conducted some freelance consultancy projects, which laid the foundation for setting up his first marketing consultancy business in 1992.

Debasish, plus a small management team, grew this business to a turnover of over £1.5 million and employed over 30 people. Other highlights included :- Winning many new blue chip customers including : BT, Cable&Wireless, GE Lighting, Kent County Council, Telstra, 3Com and many others.

Providing business development ideas across many sectors : airlines, airports, commodities, banks, telecoms, IT, office machines, medical, manufacturing, and others.

Building a dot com business and selling it to BUPA. Developing over £250,000 of commercial web sites using resources in India, and setting up a detailed project management process for the successful execution of such projects.

Debasish then built up a Call Centre consultancy practice, initially running his own call centre, but latterly managing successful telephone based campaigns from outsourced call centres.

His speciality lies in research into small business issues, Improved communications between small businesses and the public sector business opportunities for small businesses, international and cross-border opportunities for small businesses.

He has been Vice Chairman of FSB Kent & Medway Region for the past 3 years, where he is the national spokesperson on the FSB’s efforts to increase small business participation in Public Sector Procurement.
